Cash Room

The restored Cash Room is one of the most impressive historic spaces in the Treasury Building. Originally opened as a banking room to provide currency transactions for the public, the elaborate space was designed to inspire confidence in the new currency printed shortly after the end of the Civil War.

Today the room is used for ceremonial receptions and special events although the original architectural bronze and marble teller cages remain in the Treasury Collection.
